Trail Among The Trees

Sitting in an old rock quarry, the trail offers walks through a valley as well as an overlook facing East. Located in the Rockwoods Reservation, these 1,880 acres are a snapshot of the Ozark region of Missouri. Many of the plant and animal species seen/heard here are also found in the Ozarks.

This trail does not offer much in the way of scenery or landmarks but for an afternoon hike it is worth it. The overlook is breathtaking in any season. There is a bridge and some stairs to assist in those challenging sections. With that said, given the elevation gain (~500ft) and terrain, this hike is definitely moderately challenging. If you do decide to explore this trail, don’t forget to pose for a group photo in front of the cave situated in the valley.
